Felipe deve seguir longe dos holofotes e do futebol profissional
Felipe Loureiro, the technical director and a key figure in Vasco’s football hierarchy, is set to take a new direction at São Januário. Although he is a close ally of President Pedrinho, the plan is to keep him within the club but away from the limelight and professional football.
His interim performance as coach and certain press conferences have frustrated many Vasco fans. Given his trusted status with the president, it has been decided that he will step back from professional football to alleviate some pressure on the management.
The club has been making changes within its football department, hiring Fernando Diniz as the new head coach and subsequently dismissing executive director Marcelo Sant’Anna. For the time being, Carlos Amodeo, CEO of Vasco SAF, will handle executive responsibilities until a new appointment is made.
It has been agreed that some of Felipe’s responsibilities can be retained, especially his work in evaluating the youth teams, particularly with the recent successes of the U17 and U20 squads. A meeting is planned to finalize his transition to the youth categories.
As technical director, the club legend had limited influence in negotiations, primarily providing input on technical assessments regarding potential signings and areas for team investment.
With Fernando Diniz at the helm, Vasco is set to face Lanús-ARG this Tuesday (13) in the Copa Sul-Americana at Estadio La Fortaleza in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Felipe is no longer part of the football delegation.
